This 14th
August, 2009 marked 62 years of our independence and also a
milestone year for BVS as we are celebrating 150 years of the
establishment of the school.
The function started with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Fatima
Surriya Bajia, a renowned writer, critic and a well-known
humanitarian, at 7:45 a.m.
The flag was hoisted with the scouts and four houses and the four
houses marching and saluting the flag. After the saying of the
national anthem and the school song, played by the school band and
sung by the school choir, the function commenced at 8:15 a.m.
Bajia was overwhelmed by the talent in the school. She praised the
eloquence of the speeches, the melodious voices of the singers and
the overall performance of the participants. She lauded the staff
and impressed upon the students the need to revere and respect their
teachers. She shared with staff and students her experiences as a
young girl at the time of partition and hoped and prayed that may
the coming generation be free of tyranny, internal and external, and
stand up to do all for their beloved home-land – Pakistan.
In the end she gave away the Principal’s “Medal of Academic
Excellence” to the following students
From Primary section Muhammad Shajee Sohail Farooqui of class IB:
95.06%
From Secondary Section Muhammad Kaunain Razzak of Class VII B:
87.36%
From Cambridge Section Hamzauddin Siddiqui of Class VI E : 88.98%
The Principal Mrs. Parakh gave her vote of thanks and stressed upon
the need for tolerance.
