CAMPING
|
| |
The
most important activity of our scouts group is camping. We have
camps twice a year, one in summer and one in winter. All the scouts,
irrespective of their age, are required to attend this activity
taking place at different venues - at times outside the city.
A camp's duration is usually four to five days, and the scouts bring
their clothes, beddings and other everyday items, and stay on the
campsite all day and night. The scouts sleep in tents, cook their
own meals, and do everything themselves.

The
scouts wakeup early mornings, have morning exercise, and then prepare
for the grand inspection. Then after having breakfast, their daily
routine of different activities start. This includes sports, scouting
games, and other competitions that keep them busy throughout the
day. The lunch and dinner are provided in between activities. A
'trail' is held once every camp which teaches the skills of observation
and investigation to young scouts. The most important and fun activity
of the camp is the 'campfire' which is the essence of confidence
building and public speaking learnt through various items performed.
It brings out the inner talent of the scouts. |

| On
the whole, a camp teaches self-dependence with discipline, ability
to face hardships of life, brings closer to nature, and most importantly,
teaches brotherhood which is a very important principle of society.
At the end of the camp, a scout returns home with just the memories
of the whole lot of fun he has had at the camp and the things he
had learnt. |
