Mind Sports 2008

Mind Sports Association of Pakistan organized its First National Mind Sports Championships from August 14 – 17, 2008 at the South End Club, Defence Karachi. The event was held in collaboration with the Chess Federation of Pakistan, Pakistan Bridge Federation and the Pakistan Scrabble Association. The motive of the event was to promote bridge, chess and scrabble; in particular amongst the youth of the city.

BVS Parsi High School participated in the Chess and Scrabble event under student’s category. The Chess team comprises of Farhan Sheikh, Sohaib Najam and Owais Hanif; all from Class XB. It was the first time that BVS participated in any major Chess competition and our boys did an excellent job. Owais Hanif stood third after winning four, drawing one and losing just one game.

In the game of Scrabble ten boys participated. Though none of the student got any position, overall result was very encouraging. Seven of the boys won two games each out of three. Ali Alvi was awarded special prize for having highest number of BINGOS (seven letter word).

Yet another achievement for BVS!
