Dear Parents/ Guardians,
By the Grace of Almighty the BVS School has successfully completed another academic year. This year (2005- 2006) has seen a lot of changes some of which have been welcomed and embraced by the parents, students and the staff and some not. The fact remains that the school is moving towards positive changes which will assist the boys of the BVS to adopt to the new methods of learning. To facilitate all we are also enclosing the term calendar.
We have started the new academic year (2006-2007) by opening of the O-Level Section at the BVS Parsi High. Students from within the school and new students from outside the school have opted for this system of education and will sit for their two compulsory papers in the year 2010.
The second term of 2005-2006 saw two Sports Day, one for Primary and other for Secondary. Quaid-e-Azam House took the Primary Sports Champion Trophy with 108 points. Second was Lancelot House with 93 points followed by Soparivala House with 78 points and Rezashah House with 71 points.
For the Secondary Sports the Fakirji Cowasjee Darabshah House Champion Trophy was picked up by Soparivala House with 354 points. The Najamai Sethna runner up trophy went to Lancelot House with 321 points followed by Quaid-e-Azam House with 318 points and Rezashah with 214 points. Rafey Ahmed of XA was declared the best house captain in Sports. Kamran Waheed of XC of Quaid-e-Azam was House declared the fastest sprinter. Best Senior Athlete was Usman Bilwani XA of Rezashah House and best Junior Athlete was Sufyan Sattar of Soparivala house. The March Past Trophy was earned by Quaid-e-Azam House and overall Fastest House was Rezashah. The finals of the Tug-of- War was won by Soparivala House.
January 2006 saw our boys winning the Data Hard Systems competition. In the presentation Rafey Ahmed XA, Arsalan Ahmed XC and Mohsin Tariq IXA won the 2nd prize. In the Quiz of the same competition Mohsin Iqbal XA and Owais Saleem XA won the 3rd prize.
In November 2005 the school participated in the 15th Inter Board Senior Poster and essay competition. Fazlur-Rehman X-B the winner of the Essay Competition had the honour to be invited to the 1st meeting of Nobel laureates at the Hotel Holiday Inn, Islamabad in January 2006. BVS is proud of Fazlur Rehman for not only representing the school but the whole of the Karachi. This was organized by the Pakistan Science Foundation.
In February, 2006. Class X A,B & C visited the Pakistan Steel Mills, thanks to Mr.Aziz Khan. It was an extremely informative visit which was lauded by the students as well as staff members who accompanied the students.
During 2006 in collaboration with Dawn in Education, classes 7 A,B& C visited the Star Newspaper and experienced how a newspaper is edited, printed, distributed etc.
The students of Commerce Section IX C visited the UBL Corporate Branch on I.I Chundrigar Road in connection with their Economic syllabus during February, 2006. the visit gave a boast to the bookish knowledge of the students.
A scrabble competition was held at the Lycee Bahadurabad Secondary School. Mrs. Gospi Behram Avari volunteered to coach the BVS School. We wish to thank her for her interest as it bought about results. For the first time ever BVS bagged prizes, in scrabble. Singles (Senior) 1st position. Roohan Khan IX A and 2nd position Mohammad Saif IX C. Doubles (Senior) Ovais Saleem and Mohsin Iqbal X A stood 3rd. Singles (juniors) Talha Rehman IVA bagged the 3rd position.
Mucca and Dorab Sachinwala Religious Education Shield annual competition was held at the Parsi Fire Temple in Saddar on the occasion of Ava and Adar Roj. This year four shields were won by the students of the BVS Parsi High School. Under 7 shield went to Nadia Randeria, under 10 shield was won by Aresh Gamwalla, under 12 shield was awarded to Shaun Pohwala. Over 12 was rewarded to Danny Pohwala.
Inter School Science Exhibition organized by The Educational World was held in March, 2006. Sumair Farooq and Umer Khalil of Class VI A won the first prize.
And to end on yet another bright mile-stone, the matric result of 2005-2006. A total of 87 boys appeared for their final exams both Science and Commerce. 67 students got A+ grade, 18 students got A and 2 students got B+. Fahad Jamal Baqai of Science got the highest in the school securing 90.58% followed by Mohsin Iqbal with 90.35% and Fazl-ur-Rehman with 90.23%. In Commerce group Faraz Ahmed Khan secured 86.23% followed by Mohammad Ali Khan with 86.11% and Syed Yasir 85.41%
