BVS NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents/Guardians,

With the commencement of the new academic year, certain changes are taking place which deems it necessary to communicate with the parents through this newsletter.

NEW APPOINTMENT

On behalf of the Managing Committee of the Bai Virbaiji Soparivala Parsi High School I would like to inform you that Mrs. J. Nadir Shah has resigned as principal of the School due to personal reasons. The Committee after due consideration has appointed Mrs. Kermin S, Parakh as Vice Principal and acting Principal with effect from 1st August 2005.

Mrs. Parakh brings with her over a decade of experience in developing a community school from its humble beginning to rank at par with some of the best schools of Karachi. Her zest to further improve the high standards of our school is shared by the entire Managing Committee. Besides her professional expertise, Mrs. Parakh is an active and upright member of the community, who is involved in educational issues.

We are confident that with your co-operation Mrs. Parakh will not only work hard to ensure that your children get a good education but also become active contributing members of our society thereby improving the image of our country. The academics and curricular changes that will be brought about will be with your cooperation. We assure you that these will be for the benefit of your child and in the interest of the school.

SCHOOL FEE SYSTEM

We have introduced new software through which the fee billing system has been computerized, and fee bills will shortly be issued through this system. Simultaneously, we have also made arrangements with Bank AlFalah Limited. Henceforth, all fee bills will be deposited directly into the bank situated at the corner of M. A. Jinnah Road and Abdullah Haroon Road near the school. We are making arrangements with the bank for inclusion of other branches in order to make it convenient to pay the school fees. In May 2005, there was some confusion created in the fee collection which caused problems for the parents which is regrettable. We hope the new system will facilitate easier payment.

There will be a due date by which all fees have to be paid after which a surcharge of Rs. 100 will be levied. We realize that in the initial few months there may be some difficulties due to which it has been decided that no late payment surcharge will be levied in the first two months and it would be made effective from October 2005. We solicit your corporation in making the new system a success.

AFTERNOON GAMES

Games are an important aspect in the overall development of a child. BVS has in the past excelled in inter-school tournaments and has won various trophies. In order to improve upon the existing system, the school is working on introducing afternoon games. Details will be communicated in due course of time.

SICK ROOM

With the help of a doctor, the sick room is being revamped and necessary medicines and first aid equipment is being purchased. In order to man the facility, a full time qualified nurse will shortly be hired to take care of emergency situations.

DATABASE OF STUDENTS

A checklist will shortly be issued in order to set up a database of the students and emergency contact numbers of parents and guardians. We would request if the forms are filled out at the earliest and returned to the respective class teachers to enable the school to establish the database as early as possible.

ANONYMOUS COMPLAINT LETTERS

During the last few months, the school and Managing Committee members received a number of anonymous complaint letters. While we appreciate that there may be issues where parents may feel aggrieved but the grievance needs to be properly communicated to the school and parents can take prior appointment with the relevant class teacher, concerned headmistress or even the principal to discuss their issues. If matters are still not resolved, the Managing Committee may be approached through a formal letter, but anonymous complaint letters will not be entertained. Your cooperation is requested in the matter.
