AUGUST 11TH,
1947- A Red Letter Day for all Pakistanis. Quaid-e-Azam
Mohammad Ali Jinnah delivered his address to the first
constituent Assembly of Pakistan in Karachi.
Our
Quaid, the father of this nation, declares a solemn oath that
all citizens in the new state of Pakistan irrespective of
colour, caste or creed will be free to choose and practise
their religion without fear or favour.
Are we
committed to the advancement of Mr. Jinnah’s vision for a
progressive Pakistan?
George
Bernard Shaw said: “All improvement is founded on tolerance.”
Tolerance
means respect: respect for others, respect for their likes,
for their dislikes, their religious beliefs, their caste,
their colour, their nationality.
Tolerance
means to have compassion: compassion for those who have less
than us, for those who are less blessed than us, for those who
are helpless.
Tolerance
means moderation: moderation is eating, drinking, in
celebrating, in living a day to day life.
Tolerance
means gentleness: gentleness and grace in our behaviour, the
way we deal with others, with our families, friends and the
people around us.
Are we
Pakistanis doing enough to advance these dreams of the Quaid?
Are we
tolerant by being respectful? Are we tolerant by being
compassionate? Are we tolerant by being moderate? Are we
tolerant by being gentle? Do we possess self control, self
command and self restraint? Remember with great freedom comes
great responsibility. The youth of Pakistan have to come out
of their confront zones and OWN Pakistan.
Let us
pledge today on the MORN of the 62 YEARS of our freedom to
practice TOLERANCE. LOVE PAKISTAN AND OWN PAKISTAN.
