K.B.C. Regatta 2007

Rowing, though one of the toughest but the most entertaining and beautiful sport in the world. Apart from having fun one can also maintain physical fitness through this sport. Strength is not the only thing that this sport requires, what it requires is technique, skills, devotion and last but the most important; willpower.

Rowing in Karachi is practiced at the one and only rowing club that is the Karachi Boat Club. This club is not only popular in Pakistan but also has a great reputation in the South East Asian Region. It is

rated as the top club in the region for its Olympic standard boats and the facilities that it provides to its Oarsmen.

The Club is very active in holding regattas which take place seasonally. The recent regatta was held in summer. The B.V.S school team comprising of three boys; Saadan Shaikh, Abdul Ahad & Rauhaan Hassan recently started rowing and took part in this regatta. After qualifying in the heats they came to meet Karachi Grammar School (KGS) in the finals for the fours event.

Although it was a tough fight to the finish, the BVS team throughout had the upper hand and won easily. Overall our team bagged 3 Gold and one Silver in the regatta leaving the whole club in a shock as our team started rowing just 2 months before the regatta.
