The school band plays a very important role in the essence of the school. Mr. Fakirjee Cowasjee started the school band in 1927 with a generous donation by the Cowasjee family. It was named the "Cowasjee Variava Band".

The school band practices every morning under the capable guidance of our bandmaster. Students get a chance to learn and play from a variety of instruments. Drums, bugles and trumpets power the ensemble, with symbols and triangles adding the finishing touches to
make the unique tunes of the B.V.S. band. These tunes have not changed for a very long time and add to the heritage and history of our great school.

Every Monday a General Assembly is held where the school band plays a very important role. The entire school is assembled, grouped in four houses and march in front of all teachers with the principal accepting the salute. The school band plays the pivotal role in playing the general salute, the march past and the national anthem. This tradition has continued to this day since 1927.
