Scouting at the Bai Virbaijee Soparivala Parsi High School started in 1920 under the direction of Mr. R. J. Dastur the Principal of the school at that time. It consisted of 2nd, 3rd & 4th Karachi troops. The 2nd Karachi troop was organized in 1921 and founded by Mr. Fakirjee Cowasjee in memory of his father. He named the Scout group - Cowasjee Variava's Own, which is still the official name, but popularly known as B.V.S. Scouts Group. The troop was formally registered on October 3rd 1922. The activity of the troops in its early days was confined to the school compound only.

Three cub packs were formed and were grouped with the senior troops, thus forming the Scouts Group at the B.V.S. Mr. J. D. Vakil joined the 2nd Karachi as Scout Master (S.M.) from its very inception.

1928 was a memorable year for B.V.S. scouting because four scouts attended the Grand Jamboree in Bombay. This lead to the formation of the School Scout Committee headed by Principal Dr. Pithawala. Mr. Jamshed Nusserwanji who was the first Mayor of Karachi also joined the B.V.S. scout group as member and served as the Asst. Provincial Commissioner of Sind.

Scout Master Mr. Vakil started to call monthly C.O.H meetings. He worked hard as Scout Master for quite some years until he was joined by Mr. Minoo Mehta as the Asst. Scout Master and Mr. Dara Kotwal as Scribe.

After Mr. Vakil resigned from his post. Mr. Chistie became Scout Master. He was a man of high spirits. He not only served the troop but was also District Scout Master at the Provincial level.

Mr. Dabeer Ahmed became Scout Master in 1959 after Mr. Chishtie. He was a hard worker and also a keen scout. He served at the provincial level as Asst. District Commissioner (South). After Mr. Suri retired, Mr. Hussain became Scout Master. Mr. Qurban Ali previously our school sports master became his Asst. Scout Master. They both played a vital role in bringing up the scouts in the early 1960's.

When Mr. Hussain was Scout Master one of the senior scouters Mr. Badar Shaukat made some alterations to the Group Organizing Committee. A new post "Troop Chief" was introduced in 1976. After the introduction of the new post the Scout Master was made the Troop Chief and the chairman of C.O.H council.

Being First Troop Chief Mr. Badar Shaukat carried out his duties very well with his staff members. This was the humble beginning when ex-scouts started taking interest in leading the scout group. In the year 1978 Mr. Anis Qasim Mysorewala became Scout Master after Mr. Hussain. Mr. Anis made Mr. Aquil his assistant (A.S.M.). After Scout Master Mr. Hussain also the Physics teacher, ex-scouts started leading the scouting movement at B.V.S.

After reviewing the troop and bringing it on top once again Mr. Badar left to go abroad for higher studies and Mr. Aquil Hussain took his place in 1977. Mr. Aquil devoted maximum time to maintain a high standard.

After Mr. Aquil, Mr. Luvai Zoomkawala took over as Scout Master. He also followed in the footstep of his leader and maintained the standard, but unfortunately for us he also left for higher studies abroad.

Mr. Ali Reza became the Troop Chief in the year 1982. Mr. Ali also worked hard with the Scout Master Mr. Anis and other staff members and managed to keep the troop rated as one of the best in Karachi.

Finally the term of Scout Master came to an end when Mr. Anis resigned from the post.
Before leaving in 1983, he promoted Mr. Ali Raza to Asst. S.M. and Humayun Alauddin Kabeer to the post of Troop Chief.

Mr. Humayun introduced a new post of "Group Chief". He served at his post for five years with full devotion. Mr. Anwar Quettawala was next in line to take over.

Mr. Mehmood, Mr. Faisal Aziz Tungekar, Mr. Yusuf Jamil, Mr. Ali Asghar Yousuf, Mr. Aamir and Mr. Anwar Quettawala took over the helm and came up with new spirit for the scout group.

The following held the post of Group Chief from 1988 till 1999:

Mr. Amir Shabbir made Mr. Zakir Memon Group Scout Master and Mr. Nooruddin Baroucha Scouts Incharge.
